CUBE SIP Trunk Config Generator

Generate starter IOS-XE config for a CUBE SIP trunk to a carrier: voice service voip, SIP UA, codec list, SRTP, dial-peers, and CUCM-side SIP trunk matching.

What this tool does

A ready-to-paste starting point

Every carrier wants the same things in a different way. This generator produces a full IOS-XE config block you can paste into your CUBE, fix IPs/numbers, and be testing calls in an hour — not a week of guesswork.

How to read your result

Five CLI blocks

1

Voice service

Global SIP behavior.

2

SIP UA

Registration, if needed.

3

Codec

Voice class codec list.

4

Dial peers

Inbound + outbound routing.

5

CUCM side

Matching trunk config.

Deep dive

Three CUBE gotchas

Number translation: the carrier delivers DIDs in one format (often +E.164, sometimes NANP 10-digit), CUCM wants them in internal format (4-5 digit extensions). Translation happens on CUBE via voice translation-rule + voice translation-profile. Build a profile per direction (inbound = carrier-to-CUCM, outbound = CUCM-to-carrier) and apply on the dial peer. Skipping this pushes the problem into CUCM where it's harder to debug.

Early media: when a carrier plays ringback or "number not in service" before the call is answered, you need early-offer forced or calls will have one-way audio. This is the #1 call-quality bug in SIP trunk deployments. Some carriers also need no modem passthrough and fax protocol t38 settings — they break T.38 faxing otherwise.

SRTP + carriers: most US carriers support SRTP over SIP-TLS (SIP/5061 + SRTP/SAVP). If you enable SRTP on CUBE, it must match CUCM (MRA or SRST) and carrier crypto offers. One mismatch and the call hits "bad offer" errors. Pass-through SRTP (where CUBE doesn't touch the crypto) is much simpler and works for most carriers — use end-to-end crypto rewrite only when you need to interwork TLS-inside with TCP-outside.

FAQ

Common questions

Will this config work out of the box?

It's a starter — you'll need to adjust IPs, translation rules, and carrier-specific headers.

How do I verify the trunk is up?

show sip-ua register status (if registering) or show dial-peer voice summary.

What about CUBE SRST for SIP trunk failover?

CUBE does not do SRST — that's a separate feature on the voice gateway role.

Carrier says our SIP is wrong — where to start?

Debug: debug ccsip messages. Most issues are SDP (codec offer/answer) or From/To header format.

Worked examples

Three trunk examples

AT&T Flex

US office.

Static peering, G.711 μ-law, no SRTP, T.38 relay.
Common carrier setup.

Bandwidth + SRTP

Financial services.

SIP-TLS 5061, SRTP SAVP, strict cert verification.
Complex but secure.

Webex Calling Local Gateway
