Pick a scenario, describe the prompts you want recorded, and get a clean step-by-step UCCX Script Editor skeleton plus the exact WAV prompt list to upload. Paste the steps into Script Editor and wire up.
UCCX Script Editor is a drag-drop palette of 80+ steps with no opinion about the right order. Most admins start clicking and end up with a script that compiles but does the wrong thing at runtime — or worse, compiles with unreachable branches. This tool emits the exact step sequence for four common scenarios (menu-only, queue with callback, tiered escalation, multi-language) plus the prompt WAV filenames you need to record and upload first.
Pick a scenario, click Generate Script Skeleton.
Record each WAV in the checklist. 8kHz, 16-bit, mono, ulaw or G.711.
Applications → Prompt Management → upload each WAV.
Drag steps in the order emitted; point prompt steps at the uploaded WAVs.
Applications → Add New → attach this script → JTAPI Trigger at the DN.
Script Editor has one fatal ergonomic problem: every branch must terminate in Terminate or End. If any branch has a compile warning about unreachable paths, the script will hang calls at runtime. Before uploading, validate — right-click the script canvas, "Validate" — and fix every warning even if it looks cosmetic.
The second big mistake is not using Set Contact Info steps for queued calls. Agents see contact info in Finesse only if the script set it. At minimum set "Called Number" and "Calling Number" as enterprise fields so agents see who called and what DN routed them. Empty Finesse popups turn into customer frustration: "Why didn't the agent already know why I'm calling?"
Finally: Courtesy Callback only works if you have premium UCCX licensing. Before designing a callback flow, verify your license tier in Cisco Smart Licensing — enhanced licenses don't include callback, and the script will fail at the Subflow call.
No — UCCX Script Editor stores scripts in .aef binary format. This tool gives you the step-by-step plan you drag together in Script Editor.
8kHz, 16-bit, mono, ulaw or G.711. Use Audacity: Export → WAV → "Other uncompressed files" → Unsigned 8-bit PCM works too.
Use the Script Editor debugger — right-click the script → Debug → feed it sample variable values.
Check the Get Digit String step has Input Length = 1, Timeout > 3s, and Interruptible = Yes.
Opening prompt → Menu step with 4 branches → each branch = CSQ or extension.
Caller queued to CSQ_Support, after 60s offered callback via Subflow.
Initial "Press 1 English, 2 Spanish" sets language enterprise field, then all prompts localized per branch.
open_en.wav, open_es.wav, etc.Our UC Modernization Sprint builds production-ready UCCX scripts + wires them into CUCM, CM, and Finesse.
