What this tool does

Which tier, which SKU, how many seats

UCCX licensing has two traps: buying Premium when Enhanced is enough, and buying Enhanced when you actually need callback, outbound dialer, or reporting — all of which are Premium-only. This tool maps your feature list to the minimum viable tier, then counts seats including supervisors, adds HA capacity where applicable, and returns both perpetual-style seat counts and Cisco Flex Contact Center subscription SKUs.

How to read your result

Three numbers matter

1

Tier

Standard / Enhanced / Premium. Features drive tier; don't over-buy.

2

Seat count

Agents + supervisors. Concurrent (Flex) or named (perpetual).

3

HA sizing

HA means 2× VMs but 1× seat licenses — seats are site-licensed, not VM-licensed.

Deep dive

The Premium-only feature list that catches buyers

Cisco moved a lot of features from Enhanced to Premium over the past decade. If you're sizing against a 5-year-old quote, you'll likely find your feature list pushes you up. Premium-only features today: outbound dialer, Courtesy Callback, CUIC custom reports, Workforce Optimization integration, email & web chat channels, advanced APIs. Enhanced still covers skill-based routing and basic reporting — enough for maybe 30% of deployments.

For Flex Contact Center subscription, Cisco sells per named agent per month. Concurrent licensing is included at 1:1 ratio — you can't over-subscribe. The Flex SKU A-FLEX-CC-STD is Standard, A-FLEX-CC-EN Enhanced, A-FLEX-CC-PRE Premium. Supervisors consume the same SKU type as agents.

HA doesn't double the seat count — it doubles VM count. Two UCCX servers (Publisher + Subscriber) share the same license pool. For geo-HA (split sites), you still buy one seat count but need two site OVAs.

FAQ

Common questions

What's the difference between concurrent and named agents?

Flex uses concurrent — you buy N seats, any N logged in agents work. Perpetual uses named — each agent has a personal license.

Do I need to license IVR ports separately?

UCCX includes 100 IVR ports per server in Enhanced/Premium. Standard is capped at 50.

Can I mix tiers in one deployment?

No. Every agent on the same UCCX cluster must be the same tier.

What if I need more than 400 agents?

That's UCCE (Enterprise) territory, not UCCX. UCCX tops out at 400 concurrent agents per cluster.

Worked examples

Three common sizing calls

Small helpdesk, 15 agents

Skill routing, basic reports, no callback, no outbound.

Tier: Enhanced. 15 agents + 2 supervisors = 17 concurrent seats. Flex SKU: A-FLEX-CC-EN ×17.
Standard would have worked but upgrading to Enhanced adds priority routing + skill levels for ~$15/seat/mo more.

Mid-size sales, 50 agents

Skill routing, callback, outbound dialer, compliance recording.

Tier: Premium. 50 agents + 5 supervisors = 55 seats. A-FLEX-CC-PRE ×55. Recording integration via FlexInteraction.
Outbound dialer alone forces Premium; adding recording doesn't change tier but changes pricing.

Geo-HA healthcare, 100 agents

HA across two datacenters. Premium features.

Tier: Premium. 100 agents + 10 supervisors = 110 seats. Same license count; 4 VMs (2 Pub, 2 Sub).
HA doesn't double seats. Budget for 2x infrastructure + 1x seats.
